What I would like to do now is give you an overall guideline to making your e-mail extremely powerful. I want to cover the seven deadly sins of e-mail, and how you can easily avoid them. The Bible has seven deadly sins, and some of these deadly sins are taken right out of the Bible.
These seven deadly e-mail sins are Boredom, Sloth, Pride, Envy, Greed, Ignorance, and Confusion.
Now I’m going to quickly go over these and show you how to avoid these sins.
1. Boredom.
There is a lot of e-mail that is out there is way too boring. Typically they’re too long. The copy is bad. The person writing and sending the e-mail has nothing exciting to say, or it isn’t targeted to the person who receives it. If your e-mail is too boring, you’re going to lose those readers.
Much of the e-mail out there is just terrible. You’ve got to do things that are exciting! You’ve got to show some enthusiasm! You should try to motivate people, and have something to say! If it is not exciting, don’t e-mail it to people! You should also have a good handle of who you are e-mailing to so you know what is exciting to that exact person.

2. Sloth.
Just like in mail order marketing, many e-mail marketers are too lazy, and they don’t come out with enough new products or e-mail. People on the Internet have a strong liking of new things. People all over like new things, but on the Internet it is even more pronounced.
Your e-mail must promise something new or something exciting! You have to change your content constantly! Give them something new! Don’t be lazy and continue to do the same thing over and over again!
3. Pride.
Many believe that what they think is more important than what the customer thinks. That just isn’t true!
First of all, the customers don’t care about you. All they care about is what you can do for them! How can you serve them? Many people have too much pride. They don’t realize that their job as marketers is to serve customers.
You can’t dictate to your customers. Smart marketers let their customers dictate to them. Everybody has heard the old phrase that the customer is king. Recently I read a quote that is much more accurate in today’s world... “The customer is not a king. The customer is a dictator!” ...and they’re demanding! They want more and more! You have to lower your pride and be willing to serve them!

4. Envy.
Where does envy come into play? Many people are constantly surfing the Internet, and they see all of the bells and whistles that are on some of these web sites. They become envious of them. They want their web site to be just like that - bells and whistles. Doing that is wrong! The customers almost never care about any of that stuff.
If you focus on the customer and do everything within your power to serve them, you forget about all the bells and whistles. Many times those fancy web site graphics and effect makes navigation difficult for the customers, because then they have to wait forever for the page to load up.
The customer wants good, valuable information. Don’t be envious of people who have fancy web sites. Be envious of the people that are making a ton of money if you want to have any envy. Then do what they do- chances are they’re selling and reselling!

5. Greed.
People aren’t stupid! When you send out your sales material, you can’t let the customer think that all you care about is trying to get their money. People can see right through it.
You have to care about people. You have to try to serve people. Be sincere! Be honest! Be trustworthy! Be candid! Be plain spoken, genuine, and undeceptive!
There are marketers out there that are too greedy. They don’t realize that their job is to serve customers. Consequently, their e-mail messages tend to reek with that greed. People are turned off by that!
Nobody wants to buy anything. No one wants to be sold. They want to buy! They want to feel like they’re making the decision, and to do that you have to get over some of that greed, or learn to hide the hook a little bit.
6. Ignorance.
Many people just think marketing is like that Kevin Costner movie, “Field of Dreams.” They think that if they build it, people will come. They think that they’re just going to do things such as bulk e-mail and the money is just going to come flowing in like rain. That does not happen!

Benefits are all that the prospects really care about. They only want to know what the product or service can do for them that can make their life easier, more enjoyable, and more fulfilling.
5. Make readers "believe" your promises.
If your ad cannot make the reader believe you, the reader is not going to buy from you. Remember, they are buying on the basis of "sight unseen" - they send their money without ever seeing, touching, or trying out the product. Therefore, it’s very crucial to make them believe that you’re not going to rip them off.
6. Write advertising that relates to the average person in your market.
Use the language and terminology that the people in your market use. Know your market. Know what the market likes and doesn’t like. Learn what the problems are that people in your market have. The more you’re able to relate to them, the more you seem to honestly have something for them!

Make those prospects want what you have to offer. Get them excited! Show them dramatically what it can do for them!
9. Write copy that agrees with existing attitudes.
Your understanding of the market - not just as the source of your profits, but as a group of people with lives, problems, and ideals of their own - can be used to your advantage. Learn as much about them as you can, and show them that you know what they’re going through. Let them know they can trust you!
10. Write copy that overcomes buyer objections.
Write down a list of all the objections to purchasing your product you can come up with, and then tackle each one. By doing so, you can come up with ways to lessen or destroy those objections. If you can do that, you’re able to develop powerful copy and advertising.

11. Use words and phrases that move people to act.
Writing has its tools, just like any other profession. In writing, those tools are words and phrases. So use the best tools possible! Use words and phrases that will gain the attention, the interest, and the desire of your prospects. Then, give them a very simple, highly motivational call to action!
12. Write copy that reflects how average people talk.
Here is some advice that we go by that has been one factor in our success: If your copy is too complicated for a seventh grader to understand, you need to simplify it. Language can be a barrier as well as a tool. Don’t make it difficult for those prospects to read your advertising. People read advertising in a very passive way, and if your ad requires work, it will most likely end up in the trash.
13. Stay in touch with what people want.
People only buy what they really want.
14. Do not test the obvious.
Anyone can come up with ideas to test, and testing really is one of the secrets to getting rich. However, you must test things that are smart and are actually questionable. You have to provide evidence that your claims are true. If your claims are too wild, you have to tone them down. Outrageous product claims can definitely be detrimental.

All profits in this business are made through back-end sales, not front end sales. The related products and services you sell on the back-end to customers who have bought from you before will make you the most money. The front end should merely be used to gain initial sales and add more people to the back-end. Once they’ve bought from you, they have showed their trust, and you can go back to them with more offers.

Guarantees are one of the best marketing tools ever devised. When it comes to attracting prospects and helping them justify purchasing a product, guarantees are extremely powerful.
Guarantees are what we refer to as a risk-reversal tool. In direct-mail, risk reversal is an important factor. Your prospects can’t see your store. They can’t just walk in, take a look at your product, maybe try it out, and decide whether or not they want to buy it.
They might see a picture of your product, and they have to send you their hard-earned money - with no positive proof that they’ll ever get the product at all.
In order to buy your product, that prospect has to put themselves in a position of taking a risk. And the more risk a prospect perceives an offer presents, the lower the chances they’re going to buy what you have to offer.

You may have noticed that “buying back” a product is really no different than providing a refund. It costs the same amount of money either way, and both end up with you getting the product back. In your offers, tell prospects that you’ll buy back their products. It may be no different from a refund guarantee, but it won’t be perceived that way. Prospects will feel much more positive about spending their money on your products and, as a result, you could potentially make a lot more money!

People always spend more for a group of products than if you sold them separately.
A while back we were cleaning out our kids’ rooms, and we came across all sorts of videos that they have no interest in anymore. They may not watch them anymore, but we definitely found a use for them!
We checked them, and most of them were in great shape. Some of them were even “limited edition” videos and so on.
We started thinking . . . perhaps we could put them on the Internet auctions and start bidding at, say, $5.00 each. But after some thinking, we tried something different . . .
We took them and separated them out . . . and put them in bundles. Each bundle would have a good, popular video, an obscure one, a stinker, and some we hadn’t heard of. This way, they were more attractive to people.
Why did we do this? Because we knew that some of the obscure and stinker videos probably wouldn’t be as well known as the Disney videos, so they probably wouldn’t bring as much money. But if we bundled them with a popular Disney video, it’s value would shoot up because of the total value of the product!
And you could do the same thing with products of your own! Mingle the popular with the not-so-popular or well-known, and bring in more money than you would have putting an unknown product up to auction on its own! This is how to “bundle” your products together for maximum profits!

Getting one of these Internet awards can actually turn out to be a great form of free advertising! If you go to a website and you see one of those little award symbols, you would usually find that the award graphic is actually linked back to the site that gave the award.
So, for example, let’s say you go to a website and down in the lower lefthand corner, there’s a little box that says “This site won the Top 10% of the Internet.” In many cases, you can just click on that, and it will take you back to the site that awarded that Internet site that award. Then, once you’ve reached that site, you can actually submit your consideration to win that award.own site to win that award.

If you’re lucky enough to get that award, those who “issue” the award will typically e-mail you the graphic or give you an Internet site where you can pick up the graphic. Then you can put that on your website.
This does a couple of things for you. First of all, it gives you a little bit of credibility. People come to your website, and they see the award or awards you’ve won. They then think that your site must be something great or special - after all, it won an award - so it’s probably worth more browsing time to see what’s there.
Second, in many cases you get a listing on the site that gave you the award. In many cases, they’ll categorize the sites that they’ve given the award to and supply links to them. You end up getting a free listing on their site!
Remember, there are a lot of websites that might have gotten the same award. They’re all linked back to this site that gave the award. You’re not only getting people who click on your award to go back to that site and see your listing, but all these people who are coming from all the award sites. So, your listing on their site can bring in a whole ton of free advertising for you. This is how to use a strange and unusual yet cheap device - website awards - to drive people to your site like crazy!

Then, you contact many sites that hold Internet auctions. You find the best, then e-mail them and say, “Guess what? You won our Internet Auction award! Here’s the graphic, put it on your site and link it back to us. We’ll include information about your auction on our site. Congratulations for getting the award.”
What does this do for you? Now, in most cases, you’ll have your award on the home page or front page of the Internet auction sites that received your award - maybe fifty, a hundred, two hundred, or even five hundred Internet auction sites! When people see that award and want to know more, they’ll click on it. It now takes them back to your website where you’re selling information on How To Get Rich On Internet Auctions! I want to point out that this technique can work well for other types of businesses, too, but it is tailor made for consulting and service oriented businesses.
I am talking about using Internet auctions to get your consulting or service-oriented business started. There are a couple of auction sites out there now that focus totally on auctioning off services, but most of them don’t do it yet. They aren’t really turned onto this, and there is a real tricky point to this when I get to it here.
1. You want to determine the area or areas within your consulting service business that you want to build up quickly.
This could just be the whole business; it could be that you’re already going, but you want to add a new line.
2. Develop a package around that service that you can place a value on.
This can be either a bundle of your hours, a specific set of services, or perhaps an unlimited number of hours at a reduced price, i.e. “Normally I charge $100.00 an hour. You bid on how much you’ll pay me for unlimited time.”

The best thing I recommend is to set up a specific set of services or a bundle of hours. “Ten hours of my time,” or, “Five hours of my time,” or a specific service.
3. Write a brief descriptive paragraph or two about your qualifications to provide this quality of service.
This is where you build-up your past accomplishments and credentials, not mentioning, of course, that you may not have any clients yet.
4. (Optional.) This is optional but very useful and powerful. Scan a photo of yourself, or take one with a digital camera.
Kinkos will do this for you. They will scan a photo for you.
5. Get the scanned photo and use some software like Auction Assistance, or rent or use some space that you may already have rented on a web server somewhere to store that photo.
Then you can add that photo to your auction item when you put it up. A photo adds tremendous value, particularly in consulting or service oriented businesses where what you are selling is you.
6. Even without a photo (if you don’t have one), go ahead and build your auction now.

7. Set a price for that bundle, package, or number of hours.
Set it to the lowest possible price you could do it for. Remember, you are wanting to give your business a jumpstart, and most people starting a business this way have to give away their service to get started. So go as low as you can, and set that as the starting bid price.
8. Do not set a reserve price!
People do set reserves, and set the price below that. Personally, as a bidder, I hate reserves! I hate bidding on something and finding out that, even though I am the highest bidder, I don’t get it anyway.
Remember, you are starting at zero. If you can get away with it, you are willing to take some free clients. Start your price at zero with no reserve and play up the fact that you have no reserve. Remember, the goal here is to generate new business right off the bat!
9. Now, once the auction is over, you’ve got a client.
Whoever wins the bid, of course, becomes your first client.

10. Here is the tricky part! Be sure and grab the e-mail addresses of everyone who bid, respond to them, and make them a special offer for your services that they can’t refuse.
Remember, these are people who were interested enough in your service or your consulting services to at least bid and make an offer. So even though they lost, go back and make them winners!
11. Now, as you grow, you can keep setting up new auctions if you wish to continue to build your business.
Gradually increasing that low as possible price you’ll accept, based upon clients you’ve served.

Three Ways You Can Use
A Simple CD-ROM To Potentially Bring In HUGE AMOUNTS OF CASH!
There are three different ways that I see (there may be more) to use this CD-ROM to make money for yourself.
First of all, you can simply sell it yourself. You can slap a price tag on it that is virtually any price - CD-ROMs are cheap to duplicate now. If you find the right supplier, you can get them done in quantities for as little as a dollar, or sometimes even as little as fifty cents if you duplicate enough of them at a time.
You could sell them anywhere from $19.95 if they don’t have a lot of information on them. You could even sell it for up to $99, $150, or $200 if it has a lot of high quality information on it and is a real value to your customers.
Another way you can sell it is to create a distributorship and let your customers sell it for you. In our business people like to sell products. If you have a customer base, you could set up a simple distributorship and let them buy the CD’s from you in small quantities for two, three, four, five, or six dollars a piece.

It’s all a matter of thinking. You need the ability to think big. Start thinking, as we like to put it, on the other side of the cash register. When you see a good idea, you shouldn’t just notice it, you should notice it and then try to figure out how you could do something like that.
After years of thinking about things like this, reading all of the good books and magazines out there about the success in business that other people have had, you will start thinking like a businessperson, and you will begin noticing the common denominators that are out there in many different businesses.
How do they generate their profits? How do they earn the sales? You will be able to start figuring all of these kinds of things out. You’ll start seeing that money-making ideas are everywhere you look. Then, all you’ll have to do is just go out there and put it into effect!

Find New Products?
Most read trade directories, special industry publications, back issues of magazines that are within their field of interest, technical journals, business-opportunity books and magazines, and any other available materials that will inspire a new product that spells profits. And, where do they find all of this resource material? By subscribing, or by going to their local public library. This is an idea that can make you RICH!
Go to your local library and hunt up old magazines. The magazines don’t even have to even be published anymore. Then, take a look at the advertisements. This is how you can easily find ideas that will sell like CRAZY!
Always look for ideas that you can use in your own business. Look for the ways others have used to make money and use them to bring you money. And always remember that really good marketing ideas are almost never time sensitive.
