There are many, many products that appeal to people based on their greed - their greed for money, their greed for power, their greed for friends, their greed for popularity.

Greed is one of the primary hot buttons we, as marketers, use to get people to buy what we offer. They want, and they want badly - so we offer them what they want in order to make money. The formula is that simple.

Subconsciously, people are aware of their greed - they know it’s a weakness, and they know that sometimes it may end up superceding what they consider to be moral or right. People may have some guilt that they’re taking and not putting anything back, so to speak.

One good recent example we saw was a “loan brokering” program. The program worked like this: there are many people out there who cannot get loans from banks. On the other hand, there are many people - businesspeople and the like - who have a lot of money and could use the revenue from a loan, but aren’t involved in that area.

The theory was, you could act as the loan broker between such parties. You would set up deals between people who needed loans and people who had the money to loan.

Then the copywriter started into how the customer would be helping people, since there are many people out there with nonexistent or negative credit ratings that need a chance. It was a brilliant piece of copy!

Examples of helping people can run a very wide gamut - from acting as a broker like above and finding resources people want or need, to simply donating a certain amount of money from each sale to a charity, to making products with recycled resources. The opportunities are very wide and endless - you just have to be imaginative.

Offers where people not only get something they want, but get to help other people as well are very attractive to prospects. People want to be good - they want to feel like they’re doing good things with their life.

By showing them that they can not only get what they want but also help get others what they want too with your product, you create an especially enticing offer - one that’s going to be much harder for them to turn down than if you were appealing to their greed alone. By sending that product out as soon as you can, the customer who ordered the product will get it, hopefully very soon, and there won’t be much of a wait for its arrival. This makes people feel good about your company.

After all, you sent it to them promptly and they didn’t have to wait very long. Making people feel good about you and your business is the first step to getting people to do more business with you!

To many people this might seem like common sense, but there are many mail-order firms out there that don’t ship as fast as they could or should. Right from the onset when you run your lead generation ads you’re trying to attract people that have never done business with you before.

Making a promise is how to give your prospects a “reward” for reading your ad or sales letter. What kind of promise? A promise that’s powerful enough to captivate their attention and suck them in.

Make strong promises of benefits. The prospects will be drawn to the ad - into it - and the ad will seem to offer them some kind of reward just for reading it. It will seem to give them something they really, really want.

Also, here’s something else. You can use the same chapters in some of your manuals and find new ways to use those same chapters in other manuals. It’s something for you to think about. Rewriting. You can rewrite the material a little bit, or if you have certain chapters that would apply for other publications, you can build a manual or book very easily by simply using past things that you’ve done in other manuals, as long as the customer gets good value. Remember, that’s the secret.

The only difference between a manual and a book is just the binding. So, if you put it in a three-ring binder, you’d call it a manual. If you have it perfect bound, you’d call it a book. So, don’t get hung up on the terms here.

The second product is home study courses. This is where you just package up a ton of stuff. You have videos. You have audio cassettes, maybe some reports, back issues of newsletters, tip sheets.

What you are really shooting for here is when the customer gets it, they open it up and it’s like Christmas time. There’s just a whole bunch of stuff that just jumps out at them.

The benefit of selling home study courses is you can turn $50 worth of hard cost, I’m talking now the printing and duplication costs, easily into $500 or $800 by selling it as a home study course. This just contains a lot of your different informational products that are just grouped together with some subject as the main theme. It’s got to be a hot subject. Now, you’re instantly getting ten to twenty times your cost just by packaging it all up like this.

The third thing is recorded seminars. So, you have a seminar for your customers, your prospects, or your clients, and then you simply sell the audio tapes, the video tapes, or the printed transcripts of that seminar in pieces or as a whole. This is something that has a tremendous value.

Some of our seminars have sold for $5,000. So, when we package those seminars up and sell the transcripts, it does have a high perceived value. That’s a great way that we can sell something for ten to thirty times what it cost us.

Number four is newsletters. We like newsletters because of the commitment that it takes to do a newsletter every month. It does force you to do something and continue to produce something.

Now, here’s the beautiful part. Oh, you’re getting paid to do that by the way because you have your subscribers to that newsletter. Then, you can sell back issues of those newsletters, all packaged up. You know, there’s all kinds of things you can do with those newsletters once they’re written. You make money two ways. That’s a very popular product for us.

Number five is multi-author products. Russ is the one who first taught us how to do this. One of our first products that we did with Russ was just a simple round table discussion, that’s all it was. We just sat around the table and we had microphones.

Basically what we did was interview Russ. We have put together so many products with other people, where the work that we’ve had to do is minimal. That’s what we do every week now. Every week we get together with a panel group that all have customers and client who want the same type of materials and the same type of information, and we spend a couple hours a week recording two 45 minute cassette tapes.

Every week! It adds up over a period of time. In four sessions, you are able to produce a 150-170 page manual. Plus, you have eight 45 minute cassette tapes. There’s a product that can and does easily sell for $150 to $195. So, these are just five of the fastest and best shortcut ones we’ve done.

What You Can Add To The End Of Your Sentences To Make More People Want To Buy!

One of the most powerful techniques to use in sales copy is asking questions.

Questions add to the impact of the copy by making it effect the prospect immediately, and on a personal level. It’s almost as if the piece is actually speaking to them and conversing with them rather than simply sitting there waiting to be read.

Questions can be used to accentuate your selling points. “Why can this help you make more money than ever before?” The prospect will ponder this question for a few moments in his or her head . . . “I don’t know, why will it?” and then the copy follows up with the answer in the next paragraph.

Questions are great for getting a prospect involved in a piece, mentally interacting with it. To the prospect, it feels as if it’s speaking personally to them rather than to several thousand people, adding to the power. It makes the copy feel immediately important since they’re actually actively thinking about what they’re reading.

Questions are one of the best involvement devices you can use in your copy - they’re what you can add to the end of your sentences to make more people want to buy!

I would like to talk about how to make lots of money as a web site matchmaker. When most of us build a site, our entire concern and focus is on the site. We worry about our domain name, giving that right. We worry about our search engine placement. Are we going to be high in the search engine? Can people find us? We worry about the right headlines, the layout, how the site looks, if the order form works, and whether or not we have a good shopping cart.

The very last consideration we get to are the links from other web sites to ours. The truth is, links from other web sites are extremely important. Most visitors get to your sites from other sites. More visitors will find you from other sites than from search engines. Those links have to exist before they can work for you!

This is the way people surf: they go to a site of interest, look at the links, see other sites that relate to the same subject, and travel there via those links. That’s how they move through the Internet. Therefore, links are very important!

When you are designing and putting up a site, links are always the very last thing thought of. You can always look at a new site and there’ll be one, two, or maybe three links, and they’re usually seriously lacking.

When the search engines now rate sites, one of the things that moves you up in the rankings is the number of links to your site. Links are not only necessary to bring traffic to your site, they’re also necessary to get you up in the search engine rankings. The logic the search engines use is very realistic. They say, “If there are a lot of links to the site, then there must be a lot of people who think this site is useful, and so, therefore, it deserves a higher ranking.”

What I am suggesting is you form a match making service. Go out and Find sites that need links and provide additional links to that site for a fee.

This would be a very simple service. It would be easy to sell and easy for someone to understand. You could give it a name like linkmakers.com, linkgetters.com, or, linksource. com, and you solicit other web sites to solicit and set up links for them from other sites.

They’ll have to be reciprocal links. The site will have to agree to give a link back to the other site... but that’s fine! That helps everyone, and it also helps in the search engine ratings. This is a very valuable service!

If you’ve ever sat down and started establishing links to your site, you’ll know it is a very time consuming job, and people don’t know much about how to get started. People tend to be a little shy when it comes to asking for links.

You can do it! You can systemize it, and you can make some good money doing it! It is a very valuable service! You begin by charging a base fee. Then you charge so much per link that you add to the site. Of course, your client would probably want to be able to set a limit so it wouldn’t be open-ended, but you can get a respectable fee, and then you can continue to build over time by getting paid every time you add a link.

You work out a system. If you’re experienced in direct response marketing, you can easily create a series of approach letters that can make a good case for someone allowing a link to the site that you’re working for. You can systemize this whole process and hire someone to do the work for you.

You contract a bunch of college students who are looking for part-time work to actually go out and establish the links for you. This way they get paid for doing something they enjoy - and they enjoy surfing the net! Then you split the link charge with them. You make the base fee for the set-up, then you give the student half of what you make for each link they add.

If they add a link, they just look at the site, see what the requirements are in terms of what it relates to, and then go out and search. Then they use the letters you’ve provided to contact those other sites and offer to establish the links.

It’s a very easy business to manage! You can devote your time to soliciting sites, and your college students can do the work for you by establishing the links. It can be a repeat business because you can come back to the same customers over and over every few months, and add a few links to help keep their site fresh and new traffic on the way.

It’s a very simple business to start! It doesn’t take a large investment, and it really is a valuable service that can make you money and be of use to web site owners.

How To Go From Staring At A Blank Page To Writing Material That Could Make You A FORTUNE!

So, how do you get started writing you ask?

The first and most important thing when it comes to getting started is to make an agreement with yourself that you’re not going to write a perfect page, you’re not going to write a perfect opening, and nothing you put on this first piece of paper anyone is going to see but yourself. You’re not going to correct it, it’s not going to get graded, it’s not going to get printed... just sit down and write the introduction, first paragraph, or the first page to the introduction or manual or whatever it is that you need to write.

Sit down and just play with that first paragraph or page. Don’t check the grammar, don’t check the spelling, and don’t polish it.

It’s much easier to write when you give yourself permission to do it that way. Then when you finish that first page, take time and read it, and look at it very carefully. Don’t look at the grammar, don’t look at the spelling, and don’t judge it. Look for the good idea, or the nice thought, or the clever introduction, or look for the contents. Find something buried in the content that you like. Then when you see something in it that you like, congratulate yourself, saying, “Hey, that’s pretty good,” and then wad up the paper and throw it away. Now, put the second page in the typewriter, clear the screen, and start over.

Now I know that doesn’t sound like a shortcut, but believe me it is. What you’ve done is get over the hurdle, gotten started, blown out all the crud that was in the pipes, and you’ve done just like an athlete preparing for contest. You stretched your muscles, and you’re warmed up and you’re ready to write.

Five Things You Can Do Once You Have Your Interview

We’ve come up with five different things you can do once you have the interviews. Again, really there is no limit to how many you do. If you wanted to find five web site owners to interview - if you wanted to find ten, twenty, however many you feel comfortable with, and if you target one specific market area, you’ll find that you’ll have more success selling them as a group.

The first is to put the interview in digital format, available for immediate download. You can have a digital/audio file right on your web site, so when people go to the web site, they click on the interview, and maybe they read a little portion of the transcript, or maybe they even hear a sample.

They hear a small sample - maybe it’s a 30 minute interview and you’ve got five minutes of the interview as a digital preview file so people can click it and instantly hear. Then they can go ahead and buy the entire interview, and immediately have it downloaded to their computer, so they can listen to it any time they want to.

The second idea is Compact Disc’s. Again, a lot of people are putting information on C.D. as well. So you can not only have audio in computer format, but you can also have C.D.’s that people can purchase and get something to play in their car or around the home.

The third idea is written transcripts. This is something that we’ve been successful with before. It’s where you actually take the transcript from an audio version and put it into print so that people can have something to follow along with. Again, when it is written, you can also make it in digital format and available on the Internet. Maybe people can not only get the digital audio version, but they also get the digital printed version to download at the exact same time so they can read it at their leisure.

The fourth idea is something that I know has been successful for some people - an ongoing interview of the month. Instead of actually selling several interviews as a package, you could do one a month and people sign up almost like a newsletter, except it is an audio newsletter.

Each month you send out a new interview, and perhaps the transcript of it to people who have paid to receive it. Each month they get a new interview and you could keep that going on as long as you find new people to interview. There are thousands and thousands of successful web sites out there, so your material could be virtually endless.

The fifth way is an interesting way. The more we think about it, the more it sounds like something that could be very successful for someone who wanted to do it. Develop an interactive C.D. ROM, where you not only have the audio interview but also the written transcript available for people to just click and print, or view, on the C.D.

You also show, right on the C.D. a picture of that person’s web site. Maybe you even have the web site actually saved on the C.D. so that people not only can hear the interview and read the interview, but they can also see the person’s web site, and you can actually use it as a teaching tool. People can see how to develop their own web sites, based on the success of this other person that you’ve interviewed.

Those are just five quick ideas. If you can work with audio cassette tapes and interview other people, it gives you a tremendous opportunity to create products without having to write a single word.
